Located on a site zoned for development since 1999, the project presents a sustainable alternative to an earlier plan. The revised approach reduces density, protects key habitats, and dedicates 41% of the site to Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park, with another 10% as public open space. A new Surf Life Saving Club, general store, and Cape to Cape Welcome Centre will also be included to strengthen community connections and support sustainable tourism. Set along Western Australia’s renowned coastline, Smiths Beach offers direct access to pristine beaches, coastal trails, and world-class surf breaks. This development supports these natural attractions while maintaining Yallingup’s relaxed character. Inspired by the region’s landscape and heritage, the design prioritises sustainability and minimal environmental impact through thoughtful planning that balances tourism, conservation and community benefit.
